LINCOLN, Neb. (TCD) -- A 15-year-old girl and her 16-year-old boyfriend were arrested after they allegedly stabbed her father to death.
According to a statement, on Monday, Oct. 3, at 4:06 p.m., Lincoln Police officers responded to a report of a stabbing at an apartment near South 40th and Highway 2, and arrived to find a male victim deceased. The victim reportedly had "injuries consistent with being caused by a bladed instrument."
In a subsequent news release, the Lincoln Police Department announced the arrest of 15-year-old Sallie Gilmer and 16-year-old Isaac Honigschmidt in connection with 70-year-old Jesse Gilmer’s death. Sallie Gilmer was arrested on charges of first-degree murder and use of a deadly weapon to commit a felony, while Honigschmidt was taken in for aiding/abetting first-degree murder.
According to the release, Gilmer allegedly told police initially that she came home and found her father fatally stabbed. Police reportedly received information during the interviews and evidence at the home that led them to arrest the teens.
In a press conference, Lincoln Police revealed the daughter called 911 to report finding her father dead.
According to court documents cited by KOLN-TV, Gilmer and Honigschmidt are being charged as adults. Gilmer reportedly told police she was "stressed out from her parent’s constant fighting and Jesse’s mental abuse."
The two allegedly started planning the killing about a week before it happened.
Honigschmidt reportedly drove Gilmer home from school, allegedly stabbed her father, drove her back to school, then took her home again and she called the police.
The court documents reportedly say Honigschmidt gave Gilmer the knife used in the stabbing.
