Las Vegas man accused of fatally stabbing his mom on Mother's Day

LAS VEGAS (TCD) -- Police have arrested a 49-year-old man accused of fatally stabbing his mother multiple times on Mother's Day.
According to a news release from the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department, on Sunday, May 14, at approximately 6:25 a.m., officers responded to the 6100 block of Caprino Avenue to a report of an unresponsive female. In the backyard, officers found a woman suffering from apparent stab wounds.
Medical personnel pronounced the woman dead at the scene. Police did not disclose the victim's name. Police allege the victim's son, Aaron Cooney, stabbed his mother numerous times.
Police arrested Cooney, and he was booked into the Clark County Detention Center on a charge of open murder without bail. He is scheduled to appear in court on Wednesday, May 17.
