OKLAHOMA CITY (TCD) -- A 34-year-old father is in custody on suspicion of killing his 31-year-old ex-wife and fleeing with their 5-year-old son.
According to a news release from the Oklahoma City Police Department, on Saturday, July 29, shortly before 3 p.m., officers responded to a home near Southwest 104th Street and South May Avenue to a report of a domestic disturbance and found Samantha Ainsworth deceased. Investigators "quickly" identified the victim's ex-husband, Chase Ainsworth, as the primary suspect.
Chase Ainsworth fled the scene before officers arrived, and the Oklahoma Highway Patrol issued an Amber Alert for Chase Ainsworth and his child, Simon Ainsworth. The alert said they drove away in a 2012 black Kia Soul and that Ainsworth was likely armed with a knife. He has also reportedly been known to use drugs.
According to police, officials later located Ainsworth at a home in the 12000 block of Chisholm Road, made entry, and found his son unharmed inside. Police took Ainsworth into custody and booked him into the Oklahoma County Detention Center on charges of first-degree murder and child stealing.
Prior to the victim's death, in February, Ainsworth's wife filed for a protective order against him, which he later violated, KFOR-TV reports. The next month, he was reportedly charged for stalking and possession of a controlled substance.
