PLAIN TOWNSHIP, Ohio (TCN) -- Officials recently arrested a 26-year-old man amid a search for his missing girlfriend, who was later found dead.
According to Plain Township Trustee Brook Harless, 24-year-old Raychel Sheridan, who was believed to be pregnant, was reported missing after she failed to show up to work on Monday, July 1. The Stark County Sheriff's Office performed a welfare check the following day, but they were unable to find Sheridan.
In a press conference posted by WEWS-TV, Stark County Sheriff Georgia Maier said the door to the apartment was open, and investigators found evidence of foul play.
Deputies reportedly located Sheridan's vehicle, initiated a traffic stop, and observed the victim's live-in boyfriend, Sean Goe, driving the car. At the time, Goe had active warrants for burglary, grand theft of a firearm, and domestic violence involving Sheridan.
Goe reportedly fled on foot into a wooded area. According to Maier, Canton Police eventually arrested Goe at a homeless shelter on Wednesday, July 3, on his active warrants.
On the day of Goe's arrest, Maier said Canton sanitation workers also discovered Sheridan's body. Investigators suspect she was killed in the apartment, but they did not say how she died.
