Texas teacher and church office assistant accused of sexually assaulting 14-year-old girl

CARROLLTON, Texas (TCD) -- A teacher and an office assistant at a church were arrested this week for allegedly assaulting a 14-year-old girl in 2018.
According to a press release from the Carrollton Police Department, an investigation was launched in September 2021 after the victim, who is now 18 years old, reported the assault. Police say investigators learned the victim met the suspects through the church. They were reportedly identified as Luis Escobar, a 59-year-old teacher, and Alvaro Jimenez, a 71-year-old office assistant.
Police say Escobar taught virtual church classes to adults, while Jimenez performed administrative tasks.
Upon further investigation, police say they obtained arrest warrants against Escobar and Jimenez. According to police, the suspects were arrested and booked into the Carrollton City Jail on Tuesday, Feb. 8, and transferred to the Dallas County Jail on Wednesday, Feb 9.
The alleged assault did not happen on church property.
