BAY ST. LOUIS, Miss. (TCD) -- A 51-year-old man allegedly bit off a victim’s nose earlier this week during an argument about golf.
According to a news release from the Bay St. Louis Police Department, officers responded to the Hollywood Casino parking lot to a report of an assault. At the scene, police said, "A victim was discovered with a disfiguring facial injury."
Upon further investigation, police learned that Mark Curtis Wells allegedly bit the victim’s nose off during an argument that had started because of a golf game played at Bridges Golf Course. The dispute reportedly continued throughout the day among multiple golf players, and it eventually culminated in the casino parking lot.
After biting the victim’s nose off, Wells reportedly fled the scene.
According to WXXV-TV, Wells eventually turned himself in and was booked into the Hancock County jail. His bond was reportedly set at $50,000, but he paid the 10 percent down and was released.
Wells faces a charge of felony mayhem, and if found guilty, the charge is punishable by up to seven years in prison.
