Atlanta man accused of killing 1, injuring 4 in hospital waiting room is arrested

UPDATE: Atlanta Police announced Wednesday evening the man accused of killing one and injuring four others in a hospital waiting room in midtown Atlanta was captured after a manhunt that spanned the entire afternoon.
ATLANTA (TCD) -- Police are searching for a 24-year-old man accused of opening fire in a midtown Atlanta medical facility, killing one person and injuring several others.
On Wednesday, May 3, Atlanta Police announced they were investigating an active shooter near the 1110 block of West Peachtree Street NW between 12th and 13th streets. Police tweeted that three victims were taken to the hospital for their injuries while another person was declared deceased at the scene.
Atlanta Police identified the suspect as Deion Patterson and said he should be considered armed and dangerous.
Northside Hospital confirmed in a tweet that the shooting occurred at their midtown Atlanta location and they were cooperating with law enforcement in their investigation.
Atlanta Mayor Andre Dickens said in a press conference all the victims are women.

Atlanta Police Chief Darin Schierbaum said the victim who died was a 39-year-old woman. The victims who were injured are 71, 56, 39, and 25 years old. The shooting reportedly occurred inside the waiting room at Northside Hospital.
Schierbaum said Patterson allegedly left the hospital following the shooting, likely carjacked a vehicle nearby, then abandoned the car.
According to NBC News, four victims were hospitalized, three of whom were in critical condition.
