ANCHORAGE, Alaska (TCD) -- A 24-year-old woman reportedly admitted to killing two people earlier this month and sexually abusing one of the victims after he died.
According to a statement, on July 3 at 5:50 p.m., Anchorage Police officers responded to a call near West 88th Avenue and Molanary Drive about a male walking who looked injured. He reportedly had "visible injuries to the upper body" and was transported to a nearby hospital. The man, who police identified as 36-year-old Travis Sheldon, died from his injuries July 5.
Also on July 5, Anchorage Police responded to a call on the 3800 block of West Dimond Boulevard regarding a man who appeared deceased in front of a business. Police said his death was being investigated as a homicide and they identified the victim as 34-year-old Gregory Pitka.
On July 18, Anchorage Police arrested Brianna Wassillie on two counts of murder and one count of misconduct involving a corpse.
According to the Anchorage Daily News, which cites a criminal complaint, on July 3, Wassillie allegedly beat Pitka because he did not steal alcohol for her. She reportedly strangled him to death with the strings on his sweatshirt, then sexually assaulted him. She reportedly covered his body with a blanket and left.
The same day, she reportedly found Sheldon in the woods and gave him a beer but then rescinded the offer.
Assistant District Attorney Alice Curci reportedly said during Wassillie’s hearing, "For apparently no reason, she decides to strangle him, as well. And when Travis Sheldon lost consciousness, the defendant picked up a rock — in her own words, 'to get it done.'"
Wassillie allegedly attacked Sheldon with a rock several times, killing him.
Investigators reportedly discovered a note with Pitka’s ID behind a Walmart, and in the note, Wassillie allegedly admitted to killing him.
Curci also said in Tuesday’s hearing Wassillie allegedly revealed to detectives she had always wanted to be a serial killer and "repeatedly wondered what it would be like to take a life."
