WHITFIELD COUNTY, Ga. (TCN) -- Deputies took a 16-year-old male into custody this week after four men were found shot to death in a park in what officials believe was part of a robbery.
According to the Whitfield County Sheriff’s Office, on Aug. 24 at 11:14 p.m., deputies responded to Pleasant Grove Park after receiving a call about shots fired. When they arrived, they found four Hispanic males deceased. The sheriff’s office said they were searching for an SUV and a hatchback, both of which likely had bullet holes in them.
On Sunday, Aug. 25, Whitfield County Sheriff Scott Chitwood said in a news conference that a 16-year-old was arrested on four counts of murder, but there are "pieces of the puzzle that we are putting together still."
Whitfield said the motive appears to be a robbery, which was supported by "contraband found at the vehicle at the scene."
Chitwood said he believes the shooting was an isolated incident and was not gang-related. The four victims were 17, 18, 19, and 21 years old.
