HARRIS COUNTY, Texas (TCD) -- A 7-year-old boy was reportedly found dead in his home's garage washing machine hours after his parents called police and reported him missing.
According to the Harris County Constable Precinct 4, Troy Khoeler was reported missing from the 4400 block of Rosegate Drive in the Birnamwood Subdivision in the early hours of July 28. About an hour and a half after announcing he was missing, the Harris County Constable said Khoeler was found deceased.
Harris County Lt. Robert Minchew said in a press conference. Khoeler's parents reportedly called police just after 5 a.m. to report their son was missing, and there was a chance he could have been gone since 4 a.m. Minchew said constables went to the house to take information for a missing persons report, then searched the home, where they found the little boy inside the appliance in the garage.
The constables called in the Harris County homicide detectives, who then took over the case.
According to Minchew, Khoeler was a foster child who was adopted in 2019. His parents were detained and spoken to separately, which Minchew said was "standard procedure."
Minchew said at the press conference, "Whether he was killed by the washing machine or killed and placed in it, we're just so far from that."
He said later, "We don't know what happened, but we intend to find out."
