HALL COUNTY, Ga. (TCD) -- After approximately 90 minutes of deliberation, a Hall County jury convicted a 46-year-old woman of killing her 82-year-old fiancé and concealing his death.
In June 2022, Hall County Sheriff’s deputies responded to a home on Candler Road after Leroy Kramer’s stepdaughter told authorities she had not seen or heard from him in months, WSB-TV reports.
Inside the home, deputies reportedly found Kramer’s body. Kramer’s fiancée, Tabitha Wood, said he died in April 2022 and she had been living with his body since his death.
Hall County Sheriff spokeswoman B.J. Williams said Kramer’s death was ruled a homicide, and according to WSB, he died of blunt force trauma. The Gainesville Times reports that Kramer suffered traumatic injuries to his neck and chest, and his hyoid bone and thyroid cartilage were both severely harmed.
Additionally, during the trial, Assistant District Attorney Harold Buckler reportedly showed CashApp transactions through 2022 and argued that Wood was "emptying" Kramer’s account.
Wood was initially arrested for murder on June 9, 2022, and later released on July 24, 2022, records show.
On Friday, March 17, Wood was found guilty of malice murder, two counts of felony murder, aggravated assault, exploitation of an elderly person, concealing the death of another, and financial transaction theft.
Wood’s sentencing hasn’t been scheduled.
