LOUISVILLE, Ky. (TCD) -- A 32-year-old man is on the run after police say he allegedly shot and killed the mother of his 2-year-old child.
Louisville Metro Police said officers from the 6th Division were dispatched to the 4100 block of Quiet Way on Feb. 27 at approximately 4 p.m. regarding a shooting call. The first officers on scene located a deceased female victim suffering from gunshot wounds. A 10-year-old boy who was shot in the hand was transported to a hospital for treatment.
According to the statement, the suspect, Christopher Lee Gordon Sr., fled the scene with his son Caesen Gordon in a red/maroon Ford F-150. Police said Gordon has a "significant violent history" and should be considered armed and dangerous.
The Louisville Courier Journal identified the female victim as 38-year-old Angelica James.
Louisville Police Maj. Matt Meagher said in a Feb. 28 press conference that the 10-year-old boy, who was shot in the shoulder as well as the hand, is expected to make a full physical recovery. Meagher said Caesen "is a child [Gordon] had in common with the female victim."
Homicide detectives reportedly found Gordon’s car, and some of Gordon’s family members later called police to say they were in custody of Caesen.
James was the mother of four children, according to the Louisville Courier Journal. Gordon was reportedly arrested in November for allegedly hitting James and throwing her on the ground. He was also convicted of reckless homicide in 2009.
According to WAVE-TV, Gordon allegedly pistol-whipped James' oldest son and she broke up with him. She reportedly moved out, but he managed to find her.
