SHELBY COUNTY, Texas (TCD) -- A 26-year-old man allegedly killed a 36-year-old woman as part of a satanic ritual.
According to a news release from the Shelby County Sheriff’s Office, on Sunday, Nov. 13, deputies responded to County Road 3625 to perform a welfare check. At the scene, authorities reportedly found Sarah Hopson’s body.
Allen Price and Teresa Louviere told the Sheriff’s Office that "Ethan Myers had done something to Sarah Hopson" because they had not seen the victim since the previous day and believed Myers was acting strangely, an arrest affidavit obtained by KYTX-TV alleges.
During a search of the home, deputies reportedly found the victim wrapped in carpet with large wounds to the right side of her head and forehead. Authorities also found the victim’s toes, fingers, and both of her ears in a clear freezer bag between her legs, KYTX reports.
Myers’ mother was interviewed and told deputies that her son often hears voices. She also said that he was hiding in the woods because he didn’t want to go to jail, according to KYTX. Myers allegedly told his mother that Hopson wanted to be sacrificed.
The bedroom had reportedly been freshly painted and there was a razor knife, several wrenches, paintbrushes, towels, wash rags, and other supplies indicative of trying to conceal evidence. According to KYTX, investigators used a spray solution on the freshly painted wall and discovered blood splatter.
Myers was booked into the Shelby County Jail on Nov. 13 for evading arrest and murder, records show. Price and Louviere were also arrested and reportedly face charges of tampering/fabricating physical evidence with intent to impair (human corpse).
