CENTENNIAL, Colo. (TCD) -- A 29-year-old man was found guilty Wednesday, Aug. 3, of killing his then-girlfriend and leaving her body in a storage bin.
In a statement, the District Attorney for the 18th Judicial District announced Andrew Joseph Condon’s conviction for second-degree murder for the death of LaBrea Jackson. Condon and Jackson were scheduled to travel to her family’s home in Westcliffe, Colorado, December 23, 2018, but they reportedly never arrived. Her mother received a text message from Jackson's phone that day, but did not hear from her again.
On Dec. 24, Jackson’s mother asked the property manager at Jackson’s apartment to conduct a welfare check. The property manager reportedly went in and "found there weren’t a lot of personal items inside."
The same day, Condon was reportedly stopped by Texas State Troopers for a traffic violation, and he was found to be in possession of a stolen Colorado license. Jackson’s debit card was also reportedly being used in Texas. He was arrested on outstanding felony warrants from Colorado.
Jackson’s family reported her missing to the Aurora Police Department Dec. 26, 2018. Days later, on Jan. 6, 2019, someone called 911 to report there was a plastic bin with a body inside at an abandoned truck stop on Interstate 25. Officials from the Las Animas County Sheriff’s Office and Colorado Bureau of Investigation arrived at the scene and processed the scene. The remains were later positively identified as Jackson’s.
Aurora Police then turned the missing persons case into a homicide investigation, and Condon was taken into custody on a murder charge.
According to the District Attorney’s Office, Condon was convicted of second-degree murder, tampering with a deceased body, motor vehicle theft, an enhancement of violent crime resulting in death, first-degree burglary, assault/strangulation, and felony menacing.
Condon reportedly had a history of domestic violence towards Jackson.
He will be sentenced Nov. 10.
