WEST JORDAN, Utah (TCD) -- A 43-year-old unclothed man was arrested Monday after reportedly lighting a motorhome on fire, fleeing from police, and spitting on first responders.
According to Salt Lake County jail records, suspect Owen Tyler Dellinger was arrested and charged with aggravated arson, obstruction of justice, escape from official custody, failure to stop at command of law enforcement, propelling a bodily substance, lewdness, and criminal trespassing.
KSTU-TV reports that officials responded to a fire in a motorhome. Witnesses reportedly told dispatchers that they saw a shirtless male suspect running in the area behind the flames. Authorities reportedly arrived on scene to find Dellinger naked and running toward a neighboring house.
Dellinger was given commands to stop, but he continued to run away, according to KSTU. He reportedly tried to flee a second time after being handcuffed.
According to KSTU, investigators found gas cans, a shovel, boxer shorts and other items in the area around the motorhome. Two additional gas cans were discovered in the bed of a truck near where witnesses saw Dellinger.
A K-9 was able to connect Dellinger to a gas can nozzle and other objects found near the scene, KSTU reports.
The motorhome was reportedly engulfed in flames by the time the fire department arrived. Dellinger allegedly spat on a firefighter as he was being carried away on a gurney.
KSTU reports some nearby trees also caught fire because of the motorhome blaze, but no other structural damage or injuries were reported.
According to KTVX/KUCW-TV, the owner of the motorhome told investigators that no one should’ve been on the property at the time of the fire.
Dellinger was booked into the Salt Lake County Jail.
