SEATTLE (TCD) -- An apparent kidnapping victim managed to escape after a car he was trapped in crashed into a home and caught fire.
On Thursday, March 16, at 5:05 a.m., the Seattle Police Department responded to the 7200 block of 27th Avenue NE due to a vehicle on fire. Witnesses reportedly saw a man "climb out of the trunk of the crashed vehicle."
Seattle Fire Department officials at the scene extinguished the fire and treated the 63-year-old victim for non-life-threatening injuries before transporting him to Harborview Medical Center.
According to Seattle Police, the victim alleged he had been "assaulted by several suspects, then bound and placed in the trunk of his own vehicle."
Police officers detained an 18-year-old male who reportedly matched the description of the suspect. Seattle Police officers questioned and then released him.
Police did not locate any other suspects, but the department’s Homicide Unit is continuing to investigate.
