Ohio man allegedly killed man, cut off thumb to use his phone, dumped body in Indiana

RANDOLPH COUNTY, Ind. (TCD) -- A 25-year-old Ohio man was arrested after allegedly killing his roommate and dumping the man’s body in Indiana.
According to a press release from the Troy Police Department, on Thursday, April 14, at approximately 8:31 a.m., 25-year-old Easton Ho was reported missing. Ho’s roommates reportedly told authorities Ho sent strange text messages to them at 2:45 a.m. Additionally, Ho did not show up for work that morning in Miamisburg, Ohio, according to police.
Police say they suspected foul play after Ho’s vehicle was located near Kettering around 6:30 p.m.
According to police, detectives interviewed Ho’s roommate, Sean Higgins, and he admitted to killing Ho. Higgins was reportedly arrested and charged with aggravated murder, abuse of a corpse, tampering with evidence, theft, and receiving stolen property. Higgins was booked into the Miami County Jail.
In addition to killing Ho, Higgins allegedly cut off the victim’s thumb so he could access Ho’s cellphone.
According to WXIN-TV, on Friday, April 15, authorities in Indiana found Ho’s remains near a bridge on Greenville Creek near the Indiana-Ohio state line. Search teams reportedly found additional evidence in the water, as well as a body.
According to WXIN, the remains were brought to the Randolph County Coroner’s Office to confirm Ho’s identity, and the additional evidence was turned over to investigators in Ohio.
