MONTGOMERY, Ala. (Montgomery Advertiser) -- Three teen girls have been charged with capital murder in connection to the disappearance and death of 17-year-old Lesley Luna Pantaleon.
Ta'Niya Merriweather, 16, Erin Taylor, 16, and Tyeshia Whisenant, 16, of Montgomery, were arrested Tuesday, Montgomery Police Capt. Saba Coleman said.
Investigators believe the three and Pantaleon were involved in a physical altercation resulting in Pantaleon's fatal injuries, Coleman said. She did not specify what kind of injuries the victim had.
Pantaleon was first reported missing by her parents on June 24. Police received a tip of a possible body and responded to the area of Catoma Creek near Old Selma Road on July 4.
All three were booked into the Montgomery County Detention Facility upon their arrest, charged as adults. Mugshots for the three were not immediately available.
