BENNETTSVILLE, S.C. (TCD) -- A couple faces charges after a 3-year-old child ingested THC gummies and required medical treatment.
On Sunday, June 4, the Marlboro County Sheriff's Office responded to a report of an unresponsive 3-year-old at a home on State Street Ext. and transported the child to a local hospital.
The Marlboro County Sheriff's Office Criminal Investigation Division determined the child found THC gummies inside the home, ingested them, and overdosed. The two suspects, Susan and Timothy Long, were reportedly home and taking care of the child at the time.
The Sheriff's Office did not specify Susan and Timothy Long's relationship to the toddler.
During an interview with investigators, the couple reportedly admitted to having marijuana gummies in the residence.
The Criminal Investigation Division searched the home and located "multiple THC gummies, some of which were on the floor."
Deputies arrested Susan and Timothy Long on Tuesday, June 13, on charges of unlawful neglect of a child. They were booked into the Marlboro County Detention Center on $20,000 bond each.
The Sheriff's Office said the child is "expected to make a full recovery."
