BOSTON (TCD) -- Police are investigating after the bodies of four infants were reportedly discovered in an apartment earlier this month.
According to the Boston Police Department, on Thursday, Nov. 17, at 2:15 p.m., officers were called to 383 E. Broadway in South Boston and found "what appears to be a human fetus or infant." Homicide detectives and the Suffolk County District Attorney’s Office are reportedly investigating.
A spokesperson with the Suffolk County District Attorney’s Office reportedly told NBC Boston there was "a possible fetus or infant found in a freezer."
In a follow-up news release, Boston Police said detectives discovered additional human remains, which were removed from the premises by the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner. A postmortem reportedly revealed the remains were those of two infant males and two infant females, but the autopsy results remain pending.
NBC Boston reports investigators were focusing their search in a one-bedroom apartment in a nine-unit building.
The Boston Police Department is continuing to investigate, and no arrests have been made yet.
