WAYNE COUNTY, Ky. (TCD) -- A 43-year-old man was arrested and charged after allegedly holding his girlfriend against her will.
According to a news release from the Wayne County Sheriff’s Office, on Oct. 8 at approximately 2 p.m., Deputy Smedley responded to a domestic violence call. At the scene, Smedley reportedly located a female who had been assaulted by her boyfriend, Hartman Godsey.
Godsey allegedly assaulted the woman and wouldn’t allow her to leave, holding her hostage. She tried to exit the residence, but every time she made it to the front door and opened it, the woman said her boyfriend "would grab her hair then pull her back inside," according to the Sheriff’s Office.
The victim was eventually able to escape through the back door, and she ran to a neighbor’s house for help, the Sheriff’s Office said.
Godsey reportedly fled the scene before Smedley arrived. The suspect was later located walking down Kentucky Highway 790, according to the Sheriff’s Office.
Godsey, of Monticello, Kentucky, was reportedly arrested and charged with domestic violence and unlawful imprisonment. He was booked into the Wayne County Detention Center.
