Ohio man gets 28 years in prison for hand-saw attack at homeless camp

PAINESVILLE TOWNSHIP, Ohio (TCD) --
An Ohio man was sentenced to at least 28 years in prison on Friday, Jan. 8, 2021, for the assault of four homeless individuals with a saw blade in 2020.
Brandon Hodgson, 31, was sentenced to a minimum of 28 years and a maximum of 32 years in prison on multiple counts of felonious assault, the Lake County Sheriff's Office announced Friday.
Lake County Sheriff's deputies responded to a report of a screaming, running woman covered in blood on N. Ridge Rd. in Painesville Township on August 24, 2020, at about 12:15 a.m. Deputies located the woman, and she was hospitalized.
Investigators said a total of five individuals were involved in an incident in a wooded area near the location, according to the sheriff's office. All five reportedly lived in tents.
Deputies said one of the men who lived in this group, identified as Brandon Hodgson, had used a handheld saw, resembling a miter box saw, to injure three other men and the unidentified woman. Those four individuals were hospitalized with injuries ranging from moderate to severe and life-threatening, according to the sheriff's office. One of the victims, who was evacuated by helicopter, lost an eye in the attack.
Hodgson was quickly found in the area and arrested for felonious assault.
