LANSING, Mich. (TCD) -- Two men face charges in connection with the death of a teen girl and woman who disappeared in 2021.
According to a news release from the Michigan Attorney General's Office, the Michigan State Police launched an investigation into 17-year-old Brynn Bills' disappearance in August 2021. A month later, police reportedly determined that 36-year-old Brad Srebnik, 35-year-old Joshua Wirgau, and 34-year-old Abby Hill were involved with Bills' death.
Hill was allegedly the last person to see Bills alive.
Investigators reportedly used Facebook Messenger and eyewitness testimony to conclude that Hill picked up Bills on Aug. 2, 2021, early in the morning. The Attorney General's Offie alleges that Srebnik was the one who killed Bills, and her body was buried in Wirgau's backyard.
In September 2021, the Attorney General's Office said Srebnik and Wirgau allegedly murdered Hill "to prevent Hill from revealing information about the murder of Bills." On Sept. 25, 2021, Srebnik, Wirgau and Hill were reportedly dropped off in a remote area where Hill was allegedly killed, and her body was abandoned there.
Srebnik and Wirgau both reportedly face multiple charges, including first-degree premeditated homicide, disinterment and mutilation of a dead body, and felony firearm possession.
In February, Srebnik and Wirgau pleaded guilty to felony firearm possession charges, and they are both already in custody serving time, according to the Attorney General's Office.
In a statement, Michigan Attorney General Dana Nessel said, "There is no charge or punishment that will alleviate the grief felt by the families and loved ones of these two women, but I am committed to holding responsible their killers and will exhaust all resources to see justice delivered."
