CHICAGO (TCD) -- A 21-year-old woman was found dead and placed in a laundry cart in a Chicago alleyway last week about two months after she went missing.
WGN-TV reports Rosa Chacon was last seen Jan. 18 on the 2800 block of South Saint Louis Avenue in Chicago's Little Village neighborhood getting into an Uber. Her family did not hear from her or see her after that, so they reported her missing to the Chicago Police Department.
Chacon reportedly did not call the Uber herself.
According to the Chicago Tribune, Chacon's body was located Wednesday, March 15, on the 2300 block of West 24th Place. She had been tied up, wrapped in sheets, and put in the laundry cart. Chacon's family reportedly hired a private detective agency to help locate her.
The Cook County Medical Examiner's Office conducted an autopsy, but the Chicago Tribune reports her cause and manner of death remained undetermined.
Chacon would have turned 22 years old March 18, so her family and loved ones gathered for a vigil in her honor.
Jose Richart, the private investigator, told WGN, "Right now I am working closely with the homicide unit. I have had communication with them. I don’t know how far they are going along with this, but my agency continues to work diligently on this."
The Chicago Tribune reports Chacon's family is offering a $20,000 reward for information regarding Chacon's death.
