Alabama parents arrested after 3-year-old left in car for more than 12 hours found dead

FRANKLIN COUNTY, Ala. (WHNT) -- A 3-year-old child that died in a hot car over the weekend may have been left inside the vehicle the night before, according to Franklin County Sheriff Shannon Oliver.
Sunday at about 4 p.m., the Franklin County Sheriff's Office received a call of an unresponsive 3-year-old in a car on Church Street in Hodges. Responding medical personnel pronounced the child dead at the scene.
The sheriff's office said that according to the parents, the boy was last seen around midnight when they put him to bed, but when they woke up around 3 p.m., they were unable to locate the child, and then found him in a car.
The boy's parents, 20-year-old Dakota Fowler and 21-year-old Brandi Burks were arrested and charged with manslaughter.
They were held in the Franklin County Jail with bond set at $500,000 each.
