Tenn. woman allegedly used son as human shield during armed carjacking

CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. (TCD) -- A 24-year-old woman was arrested last week after she allegedly carjacked multiple people while and using her own child as a shield.
On Dec. 22 at 4:42 p.m., Clarksville Police Department officers responded to the Minit Mart on Trenton Road when they received a call from a woman who said her car had been stolen. According to the statement, the 51-year-old woman was pumping gas into her Nissan Juke when a woman pointed a gun at her and took the car.
About 30 minutes later, at 5:16 p.m., Clarksville Police received a shots fired call near Warfield and Ted Crozier Sr. boulevards. A man told police a woman fired her gun and as he ran away, she allegedly stole his Mercedes-Benz.
According to Clarksville Police, "The victim stated that the female used her child as a shield."
Clarksville Now reports the child is 5 years old.
Authorities reportedly later located the stolen Nissan Juke as well as the Mercedes.
Officials in Cheatham County reportedly informed Clarksville Police that a female took a silver Ford F-150 and was involved in a crash on Interstate 24.
Police identified the suspect as Bethany Wilson and said she was being charged with two counts of aggravated robbery. She was later located at a Days Inn and taken into custody.
According to Clarksville Police, her child was with her and is "safe." Additional charges are reportedly pending.
