DULUTH, Ga. (TCD) -- A 49-year-old man was arrested and charged after the remains of a 19-year-old woman were found in a wooded area.
According to a news release from the Hall County Sheriff’s Office, on June 20, Sarai’ Gomez of Ecuador was found on Paradis Point Road in Flowery Branch. She had reportedly been assaulted and stabbed to death.
Upon further investigation, the Sheriff’s Office identified Timothy Krueger as the suspect. On Thursday, Aug. 4, he was reportedly taken into custody and charged with felony murder and aggravated assault. He also allegedly concealed Gomez’s death.
In a statement, Hall County Sheriff Gerald Couch said, "I’m proud of the way our CID and Intel Unit collaborated with the Department of Homeland Security, the Georgia Bureau of Investigation and Gwinnett County detectives to find this young woman’s killer."
Couch added, "Six weeks ago we had no idea who our victim was and we had no leads on her killer. After hundreds of hours of intense investigative work, our team was able to put a suspect behind bars. I pray this brings a sense of justice to Ms. Gomez and her family."
Krueger remains held in the Gwinnett County Jail without bond.
