PRINCE GEORGE'S COUNTY, Md. (TCD) -- A 25-year-old man has officially been charged with murder months after he allegedly beat an elderly man to death during an argument about car damages.
According to the Prince George's County Police Department, on June 2 at 7:30 p.m., police received a call regarding a possible assault in a residential parking lot on the 11300 block of Cherry Hill Road. Surveillance footage reportedly shows Julias Wright "repeatedly striking" 87-year-old Johnny Shepherd.
Police arrested Wright soon after on charges of first- and second-degree assault and reckless endangerment.
Shepherd reportedly died of his injuries about a month and a half later on July 28, and Wright's charges got upgraded.
On Sept. 9, the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner ruled Shepherd's death a homicide and his cause of death as "complications of blunt force head injuries."
According to the statement, investigators believe the two men got into a dispute "over car damage."
NBC Washington reports Wright allegedly attacked Shepherd after Shepherd damaged Christina Felder's car. Shepherd and Felder are reportedly neighbors, and Wright is her boyfriend. Felder reportedly told police Shepherd allegedly pushed her, so she punched him and called Wright for help.
