MARSHALL COUNTY, Ala. (TCD) -- A woman from Albertville was sentenced to 99 years in prison for charges of sodomy, sexual torture, and bestiality.
According to WHNT-TV, 37-year-old Holly Debord pleaded guilty in July to the charges stemming from an incident in 2020. Debord and Van Christopher Havis were arrested in January 2020, according to the Marshall County Sheriff’s Office. On Wednesday, Havis was sentenced to life in prison with the possibility of parole for his involvement, WHNT-TV reports.
On January 17, 2020, the Marshall County Sheriff’s Office shared a post on Facebook from the local newspaper The Advertiser-Gleam describing the charges. A video that was "shared extensively online" reportedly "depicted the two defendants, a mentally disabled man and a domesticated animal."
Officials called the case "horrific" and "particularly disturbing," according to the Facebook post.
Marshall County Assistant District Attorney told WHNT after Debord’s sentencing, "This is one case that was just physically repulsive. You know, it made your stomach churn watching these videos. It is so violent and so aggressive. And what they’re doing to this victim, again it’s just awful. Words can’t describe it."
According to WHNT, Marshall County District Attorney Everette Johnson said it was "one of the most disturbing and offensive" cases he’s had in his career.
