CHESAPEAKE, Va. (TCD) -- A 15-year-old boy faces charges after allegedly killing his adoptive parents earlier this week.
On Tuesday, Jan. 10, at approximately 6:30 a.m., Chesapeake Police officers responded to a home on the 1800 block of Peartree Street to a report of injured people inside, WAVY-TV reports. At the scene, officers reportedly found two deceased adults, who were later identified as 61-year-old Donna Daugherty and her husband, 60-year-old John Daugherty.
According to WTKR-TV, the couple's adopted son was charged with two counts of aggravated murder in connection with their deaths.
Police reportedly said they found the deceased couple with "injuries sustained from a knife and/or a hammer that were found at the scene."
A neighbor told WTKR, "I’ve only seen the kid one or two times, but he didn’t seem like the type of kid that would do anything like that. It’s just nuts."
The investigation is ongoing, and police have asked anyone with information regarding the killings to come forward.
Police did not disclose the name of the 15-year-old suspect.
