MARION COUNTY, Miss. (TCD) -- Law enforcement officials are searching for a man they believe climbed through a woman’s window and stabbed her as she slept.
According to the Marion County Sheriff’s Office, on Wednesday, Nov. 23, at 1:19 a.m., deputies responded to a stabbing call on New Hope Road and found a 34-year-old woman with multiple stab wounds. An ambulance arrived and reportedly transported the victim to a nearby hospital. She was reportedly in critical condition.
The Marion County Sheriff’s Office identified the suspect as 51-year-old Johnny Lee Nichols. Officials reportedly believe he knows the victim, who remained unnamed. The stabbing reportedly appears to be "domestic related."
Nichols allegedly climbed through a window to get into the home, went into the victim’s room, and attacked her. The woman’s five children were reportedly asleep in the home as well.
Nichols reportedly fled the scene in a white Ford Crown Victoria or Mercury Grand Marquise, and law enforcement officials are searching for him. He is wanted for attempted murder.
