PORTLAND, Ore. (TCD) -- A 20-year-old man was taken into custody this week after he allegedly approached a young girl and asked her to have sex with him.
According to the Portland Police Bureau, on Monday, March 28, at 7:18 a.m., officers were sent to the 10000 block of Southeast Steele Street for a report of an attempted rape. Police learned that a 12-year-old girl was walking to her neighbor's house before going to school when the suspect, 20-year-old Bill Glenn, allegedly approached her.
Portland Police say Glenn allegedly "had his pants down and was exposing his genitals to the young girl." He then reportedly asked if she would like to have sex.
The girl's family reportedly saw the encounter and shooed him away. Police say the girl's family noted "key descriptors of the suspect" and directed officials in the direction which he ran.
Officers from the bureau's East Precinct "flooded the area" and searched for Glenn. They reportedly found him and took him into custody following a "short foot pursuit." Glenn was booked into the Multnomah County Detention Center on charges of coercion, luring a minor, and public indecency.
