CHICAGO (TCD) -- A 61-year-old woman and her 79-year-old husband were found dead in an apartment at a senior living facility Sunday night.
According to WGN-TV, Chicago Police said they forced entry into an apartment on the 1000 block of West Montrose Avenue at approximately 8:30 p.m. on Sunday, April 10. When officers made their way into the residence, they reportedly found the victims, Sheila Banks and her husband Ocie Banks Sr.
Banks reportedly lived at the senior living facility, but Banks Sr. did not. A family member reportedly told WGN Shiela and Ocie were separated, but kept in touch.
The Chicago Tribune reports someone called police to conduct a well-being check on Banks. Police were reportedly able to enter the apartment with the help of a maintenance worker. Banks reportedly suffered a gunshot wound to the head, while Banks Sr. reportedly had "trauma to the face."
The apartment reportedly had no signs of forced entry and the door was still locked when police made their way inside, according to WLS-TV.
Friends and neighbors told WLS Banks was about to retire and hosted a party for some friends two days before she was found dead.
Her niece LaToya Hambrick shared, "She was excited about her upcoming life. Just life in general. She had a wonderful life. She always worked. Ocie was a loving husband."
According to WGN, Sheila and Ocie Banks had been married for over 40 years. There are no suspects in custody yet.
