Mich. man sentenced for shooting his wife in the head 5 times while she was on the phone with 911

MACOMB COUNTY, Mich. (TCN) -- A 31-year-old man has received a life sentence without the possibility for parole in connection with the shooting death of his wife.
The Macomb County Prosecutor’s Office announced Feb. 26 that a judge sentenced Steven Wheeler after a jury found him guilty of first-degree murder and felony firearm in connection with the death of his wife, identified by MLive.com as 33-year-old Jordan Wheeler.
According to prosecutors and WJBK-TV, on Oct. 19, 2023, Wheeler’s wife called 911 to report an assault when the defendant shot her five times in the head with their two children nearby.
Macomb County Prosecutor Peter Lucido said, "This was a senseless and brutal act of violence that took the life of an innocent woman and forever shattered the lives of her loved ones. No punishment can ever undo the pain and loss this family has endured. I hope this conviction sends a clear message that domestic violence will not be tolerated, and we remain committed to seeking justice for victims and their families."
