Alabama mother allegedly stabbed 8-year-old son to death

MORGAN COUNTY, Ala. (TCD) -- A 41-year-old mother was arrested and charged after allegedly stabbing her 8-year-old son to death and injuring an adult man.
On Thursday, March 16, the Morgan County Sheriff’s Office said they received a call at around 5:30 a.m. and responded to Village Drive near Hartselle. At the scene, authorities reportedly found an adult male suffering from a stab wound, as well as a deceased 8-year-old boy.
The man was reportedly transported to a hospital via helicopter.
According to the Sheriff’s Office, Jennifer Long was at the scene and taken into custody. She was arrested and booked into the Morgan County Jail for capital murder without bond.
The Priceville Police Department worked alongside the Morgan County Sheriff’s Office in the case.
In a statement obtained by WAFF-TV, Morgan County Schools Superintendent Tracie Turrentine said, "It is with great sadness that we have lost one of our students in Morgan County. The student will be remembered for the joy he brought to his friends, classmates, and teachers."
Turrentine continued, "My condolences and thoughts go out to the family at this time. The loss of a student can be a difficult and challenging situation that can generate a high level of anxiety and distress in students. During this time, as the school community processes this news and copes with grief, please know that support services are available to those who need them."
