GAITHERSBURG, Md. (TCD) -- Detectives arrested a 31-year-old man after he allegedly tried to kidnap a middle school student at a bus stop this week.
According to Montgomery County Police, on Monday, March 20, the victim was waiting at a bus stop on the 17600 block of Towne Crest Drive at 7:20 a.m. when the suspect, Jamaal Germany, allegedly "grabbed the child and pulled them toward an apartment building."
Other students who were also at the bus stop reportedly stepped in, and the victim broke free.
The school bus arrived and all of the students boarded it safely, then reported what happened to school staff when they arrived at Redland Middle School.
Detectives from the Montgomery County Department of Police Special Victims Investigations Division took Germany into custody on a charge of attempted kidnapping and second-degree assault.
