SPRINGFIELD, Mo. (TCD) -- A 47-year-old man faces multiple charges after he allegedly attacked several people in April with a shovel and other instruments.
Missouri court records show Michael Campbell is being charged with littering, three counts of unlawful use of a weapon, fourth-degree assault, and armed criminal action in connection with the incident this spring.
Court documents cited by KOLR-TV say on April 10, Springfield Police responded twice to the 1700 block of West Olive Street and both incidents involved Campbell. The first call reportedly came in after Campbell allegedly hit someone with a shovel because they tried to clean up trash he threw in the street. Two people tried to stop Campbell, but then he allegedly threatened them.
One victim and Campbell got into a physical altercation, and Campbell allegedly punched the victim in the head.
This incident reportedly took place between 7:04 and 7:40 p.m.
Campbell allegedly tossed trail mix in the road and swung a pickax at this victim. He reportedly had a machete and pitchfork with him as well.
According to KOLR, later that night, a second victim was helping a friend pick up some personal items at the same location as the earlier incident. The friend had argued with Campbell that day, and Campbell reportedly yelled at the second victim and a witness, and he began to swing a metal object.
The victim reportedly tried to stop Campbell, and the two got into a fight. Springfield Police arrived at the scene again and Campbell exited the house. He had a head injury that reportedly occurred when he fell down porch stairs.
According to records, Campbell is also a registered sex offender.
