BRADENTON, Fla. (WFLA) -- A Bradenton mother was arrested after shoving a school bus assistant, who is nine months pregnant, because the bus was 30 minutes late, police said.
The assistant said they were dropping off children on 6th Avenue West Friday, October 2, when a child's mother entered the bus, screaming and cursing, and pushed her into the wall. She told officers the mother, Erica Piedra, 36, was irate because the bus was 30 minutes late.
The victim reported the incident four days later. Detectives called the bus driver, who confirmed the assistant's story.
Piedra was arrested and booked into the Manatee County Jail Tuesday, Oct. 6, on a charge of aggravated battery on a pregnant woman.
The Bradenton Herald reports that police said Piedra entered the bus about 5 p.m. on Oct. 2 and began screaming and cursing at the victim before shoving her. The victim was pushed into the inside wall of the bus and nearly fell to the floor.
The victim was not physically injured in the assault so did not report it right away. She told investigators that she became more fearful each time she had to drop off students at the bus stop so she reported the incident, according to police.
