RACINE, Wis. (TCD) -- A 37-year-old prison supervisor was arrested and charged after allegedly engaging in a sexual relationship with an inmate.
According to a news release from the Racine County Sheriff’s Office, on Wednesday, Aug. 24, the Sheriff’s Office learned about the alleged relationship between Jacqueline Heidt, a supervisor at the Racine Correctional Institute, and an inmate.
Upon further investigation, Heidt’s cellphone was reportedly seized, and authorities found pictures and messages supporting the allegations.
The Sheriff’s Office said the alleged relationship began in April and continued until Aug. 4. The inmate reportedly told investigators that they would engage in sexual intercourse in Heidt’s office around three or four times a week. All in all, the Sheriff’s Office said the two had "sexual intercourse at least 20 times, but less than 40 times."
The two allegedly engaged in additional sexual activities other than intercourse.
Heidt was interviewed on Aug. 25 but denied the allegations, according to the Sheriff’s Office. She was reportedly confronted with the evidence from the cellphone, and the Sheriff’s Office said her "demeanor changed, and she stopped answering questions."
Heidt was reportedly arrested and charged with second-degree sexual assault by correctional staff, misconduct in public office, and deliver illegal articles to inmate. She remains held in the Racine County Jail on just over $1.1 million bond.
