COWETA COUNTY, Ga. (TCD) -- A 37-year-old woman was arrested and charged after allegedly stealing her date’s pickup truck and initiating a high-speed chase.
Jenifer Lee Gray met Wesley Burson on the dating app "Plenty of Fish," and the two were on a first date when the incident happened, WSB-TV reports. Burson reportedly arranged to have an Uber pick her up and drive her to his home.
According to an incident report obtained by WSB, on Thursday, Oct. 27, at around 9 p.m., Gray arrived at Burson’s home. As they were getting ready to leave, the victim heard his pickup truck start outside, WAGA-TV reports. When he went outside, he reportedly witnessed Gray driving the truck across the front yard, and he called 911.
According to WSB, a deputy found the truck near the intersection of Georgia State Route 34 Bypass and Temple Avenue. Gray reportedly refused to pull over and reached speeds up to 100 mph.
Gray hit the ditch with the pickup truck at least two times, and ultimately, the tires were flattened out by stop sticks, WAGA reports.
A sergeant with the Coweta County Sheriff’s Office told WAGA that "she was driving recklessly, trying to swerve and hit our patrol car while he was attempting to do a PIT maneuver."
According to WSB, Gray was transported to a hospital for medical evaluation. She was booked into the Coweta County Jail for theft by taking and fleeing/attempting to elude a police officer on Oct. 27, records show. Her total bond was set at $7,500.
