Louisiana sanitation worker spots suspect vehicle; abducted girl rescued

NEW IBERIA, La. (TCD) --
A Louisiana man was arrested Monday morning after a sanitation worker recognized the suspect’s car from an AMBER Alert issued Sunday in the abduction of a 10-year-old girl. The girl was found safe.
Michael Sereal, 33, was arrested for aggravated kidnapping and held without bond at the Iberia Parish Jail.
A 10-year-old girl was reported missing from a family member’s residence at about 1 p.m. on Sunday, Feb. 7, New Iberia Police announced. An AMBER Alert was issued Sunday night by Louisiana State Police.
Police said Sereal’s vehicle was spotted just before 7 a.m. Monday. St. Martin Parish Sheriff’s deputies responded and arrested Sereal, a registered sex offender. Sereal was later transferred to Iberia Parish authorities.
The Acadiana Advocate reports a sanitation worker recognized Sereal’s vehicle from the AMBER Alert and reported it to police.
