NEW IBERIA, La. (TCD) -- Police are investigating a "suspicious" death after a female employee’s body was discovered inside a freezer at an Arby’s this week.
New Iberia Police Capt. Leland Laseter told WDSU-TV that officers responded Thursday, May 11, at approximately 6:30 p.m. to the Arby’s on East Admiral Doyle Drive for reports of a body in the freezer. The employee was declared deceased at the scene.
Laseter called the incident "unusual" and said the woman’s death was likely an accident rather than a homicide.
According to KADN-TV, the victim worked at the Arby’s where she was found. KLFY-TV reports she was a manager.
Police reportedly interviewed several Arby’s employees as part of the investigation and are awaiting autopsy results.
Even though Laseter believes the employee’s death was an accident, he told KADN, "Nothing is set in stone yet."
