SOAP LAKE, Wash. (TCD) -- A 51-year-old man turned himself in to police after allegedly cutting his wife’s throat with a knife this week at a local ice cream shop.
On Thursday, July 13, at approximately 11:45 a.m., the Soap Lake Police Department responded to the Tutti Frutti Bar ice cream shop at 27 Daisy St. S. and found a female bleeding from the front of her neck on the sidewalk. Upon officers’ arrival, bystanders were providing first aid on the victim.
At the scene, the woman reportedly told officers her husband, Samuel Montoya of Quincy, had slit her throat with a knife. She was transported to Confluence Health-Central Washington Hospital in Wenatchee via air ambulance, and her condition is unknown at this time.
Montoya reportedly fled the scene but eventually surrendered at the Ephrata Police Department. Officials booked him into the Grant County Jail on a charge of attempted first-degree murder.
