FLAGLER COUNTY, Fla. (TCD) -- Deputies arrested a 32-year-old woman after she allegedly left her 11-year-old son in a hotel room with a deceased man after she and the victim did drugs and had a sexual threesome with another man.
According to the Flagler County Sheriff’s Office, on the morning of Sunday, Aug. 10, deputies went to the Hammock Beach Resort after receiving a call about someone performing CPR on an unresponsive adult male. EMS arrived at the scene and pronounced the 60-year-old man deceased.
Deputies reportedly noticed "various narcotics and drug paraphernalia" inside the hotel room and spoke with Amy Kemper, who confirmed there was drug use in the room overnight. Investigators learned Kemper’s son had been in the hotel room while she did drugs with the victim and had a threesome with the victim and another man.
The Sheriff’s Office said Kemper noticed the victim "was snoring unusually when she left the property with the other adult male but decided to leave her child in the same room."
When she and the other man returned hours later, the 60-year-old was dead.
Kemper’s charging documents identify the victim as Timothy Farinick. Kemper told deputies Farinick snorted cocaine, smoked marijuana, and took Viagra in the hours preceding his death.
According to the affidavit, on Saturday, Sept. 9, Kemper, Farinick, her friend Joseph Dowdy, a man named Brian, and another male went to a bar in Flagler Beach and stayed out until 2 a.m. Farinick and Kemper reportedly picked up her son from her mother’s house, then everyone met up at the hotel around 3 a.m. While in the room, Kemper reportedly put her son to sleep on a couch near balcony doors in front of the bed.
Kemper said all five adults were doing cocaine in the same room as the sleeping boy, but they kept the cocaine in the bathroom away from his sightline. At some point, Dowdy and the other male left the room so Kemper, Farinick, and Brian could have a sexual threesome. They reportedly tried to move the couch into a closet and shield the doors with a sheet so if the boy woke up, "he would not see or hear the sexual activities occurring."
At approximately 5 a.m., Kemper reportedly "observed Timothy [Farinick] having what she believed was a medical episode" and called for help. The affidavit says the exact time she called for help is unclear because "conflicting times were reported through the investigation."
She noticed his "unusual snoring," then allegedly determined he was just sleeping. She and Dowdy left him in the hotel room to "sleep it off" and drove to Daytona Beach to see a friend. When the two returned at 9:25 a.m., they knocked on the door and her son answered. She found Farinick "unresponsive and cold" on the bed and called 911.
According to the court document, the son was "left alone in the hotel room with the unresponsive Timothy, drug paraphernalia, and sex items for numerous hours."
Investigators reportedly discovered "numerous sex toys" in the bathroom and condom wrappers on the bed.
Kemper was arrested on a charge of neglect of a child without great bodily harm. She posted bond and was released Sept. 18. Her arraignment is scheduled for Oct. 30.
