CICERO, N.Y. (TCD) -- Police arrested a 28-year-old woman last week after she allegedly stabbed her boyfriend with a steak knife at her home.
The Cicero Police Department said April Barbagallo was taken into custody Aug. 17 for first-degree assault and criminal possession of a weapon.
According to WSYR-TV, on Aug. 17 at approximately 8:30 p.m., Cicero Police responded to a stabbing call at 6210 Pebble St., where they found 40-year-old Mark Crawford bleeding and unconscious on the floor. Crawford received some medical care at the home, then was transported to Upstate Hospital.
Syracuse.com, which cites the criminal complaint, reports Barbagallo allegedly stabbed Crawford with a "silver-colored common steak knife" in the chest. The knife, however, reportedly reached his heart and he underwent emergency heart surgery at the hospital.
An Upstate University Hospital spokesperson told Syracuse.com that Crawford was in good condition.
Barbagallo was booked into the Onondaga County Justice Center and was later released after posting $10,000 bail.
The motive for the alleged stabbing was not immediately known.
