LAS VEGAS (TCD) --
A 26-year-old Las Vegas woman is charged with murdering her two young daughters in their apartment on Friday.
Las Vegas Metro Police said officers responded to a report of unresponsive children at an apartment in the 1000 block of Sierra Vista Drive at about 12:15 p.m. on Friday, Nov. 6.
Medical personnel arrived and pronounced the children dead at the scene.
Police said homicide investigators determined the children were intentionally injured by their mother, 26-year-old Amanda Sharp-Jefferson.
Sharp-Jefferson was arrested and charged with two counts of murder and held at the Clark County Detention Center. She appeared in court Tuesday morning. Her next court date is scheduled for Nov. 24.
Police did not immediately release the cause of the children's death pending autopsies by the Clark County Coroner's Office.
KLAS-TV reports the victims were Sharp-Jefferson's 1-year-old and 2-month-old daughters. The girls' father, who found the children stacked on top of each other in a baby swing, told police Sharp-Jefferson said she drowned the victims. She made a statement that the children's organs were "worth a lot of money," according to police.
Police said Sharp-Jefferson denied having any children and said someone must have left the bodies in her apartment and staged it to look like the children lived there, according to the arrest report.
