LOS ANGELES (TCD) --
Super Bowl winner and Kansas City Chiefs football player Frank Clark was arrested Sunday on a firearms charge after he was pulled over for an unspecified vehicle violation, Los Angeles Police said.
The defensive end was pulled over at around 9:20 p.m. Sunday near Downtown Los Angeles for "an alleged vehicle violation," according to LAPD spokesman Tony Im.
Im said that when they pulled him over, officers "noticed a bag with an Uzi sticking out in plain sight."
Clark was arrested for having a concealed firearm in his car.
Jail records show Clark was released on a $35,000 bond Monday.
Clark’s attorney said the gun belongs to Clark’s bodyguard.
According to the Kansas City Star, at around 11:45 p.m. on March 12 this year, Clark and another man were stopped by California Highway Patrol officers for not having a front license plate on their vehicle. Officers reportedly noticed the muzzle of a gun in a bag. The Kansas City Star, citing the report, says officers recovered a rifle and handgun from the car, both of which were reportedly loaded. Clark was arrested, then released on a $35,000 bond the next day.
