HILLSBOROUGH COUNTY, Fla. (TCD) -- Three people, including a firefighter and a cancer researcher, were arrested after a weeklong undercover human trafficking operation.
On Sept. 12, the undercover operation was launched to identify people who "exploit children for commercial sexual acts," the Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office said in a news release.
A day after the investigation was launched, 33-year-old Jay Saxe was arrested after he allegedly went to a trailer to meet up with a girl he believed to be 14 years old. According to the Sheriff’s Office, Saxe owns a Kona Ice in Lakeland.
Martial Boutchueng Djidjou, 44, was reportedly taken into custody on Sept. 15. The Sheriff’s Office said he traveled to meet with a minor, and he was willing to pay for sex. According to the Sheriff’s Office, Djidjou is a cancer researcher at the Moffitt Cancer Center.
Brian Streeter, 50, was also arrested on Sept. 15 after he reportedly planned to meet up with a girl he believed to be 14 years old with the intention of having sex with her for $60. The Sheriff’s Office says Streeter was a lieutenant with the Pinellas Park Fire Department.
According to WOFL-TV, Streeter had worked for the department since 2003. He was reportedly let go following his arrest.
In a statement obtained by WOFL, Pinellas Park City Manager Bart Diebold said, "I am extremely disheartened to learn of the reprehensible acts that are alleged to have been committed by Mr. Streeter. He took an oath to serve our community and betrayed that oath and the trust placed in him as a public servant and a leader in our fire department."
In a statement, Hillsborough County Sheriff Chad Chronister said, "While these men may be trying to hide their disgusting life choices in the shadows of our community, our detectives are the beacon of light."
Chronister continued, "Our detectives will continue to track down anyone participating in this vile behavior and make sure they are held accountable."
