HOUSTON (TCD) -- A 25-year-old man was taken into custody on suspicion of killing two female relatives, leaving one of their bodies in a bank parking lot, and sexually assaulting his underage cousin.
According to Harris County Sgt. Ben Beall, on Wednesday, Nov. 15, at approximately 11 p.m., deputies were called to an abandoned Chase bank drive-thru center on the 9700 block of Wortham Boulevard and found a deceased female. A custodian at the building next door told deputies she heard gunshots at approximately 9:30 p.m. Her son picked her up from work and discovered the body in the parking lot.
Homicide Unit detectives arrived at the scene, and after looking through surveillance footage determined the suspect was driving a four-door Chevrolet pickup truck with collapsible blue boxes in the bed of the vehicle. Deputies informed patrol to be on the lookout for the truck.
While investigating the woman’s death at the bank, another call came in at around 3 a.m. from a 12-year-old girl who said her mother and grandmother had both been fatally shot. She also reportedly said her cousin sexually assaulted her and was asleep in another room. Deputies went to the girl’s residence on the 11500 block of Deep Meadow Boulevard and saw a truck that matched description of the suspect’s vehicle.
Deputies rescued the girl from the house. A 25-year-old man later left the home and was taken into custody without incident. Beall said he had a knife and gun on him at the time of his arrest.
The 12-year-old girl reportedly told deputies her mother was dead inside, so deputies entered the home under exigent circumstances to conduct a welfare check on her and found her deceased in a bedroom. Beall said investigators are seeking capital murder charges against the suspect, who remained unnamed.
The girl’s mother was 42 years old and her grandmother was 66, according to the Harris County Sheriff’s Office. Investigators believe the grandmother was killed at the bank.
The 12-year-old was transported to a hospital to undergo a sexual assault evaluation.
Beall said the crime scenes were about 2 1/2 miles apart.
Deputies have reportedly received several calls from the home in the past, including when the suspect was charged with criminal trespass.
Beall said, "He has some drug issues and is not welcome over here at the house."
