LAS VEGAS (TCD) -- An 18-year-old high school student who was recently arrested for his alleged involvement in a fatal home invasion reportedly left his homework inside the getaway car.
According to a statement, on March 25 at 2:10 p.m., Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department officers responded to a shooting call on the 6400 block of Bright Nimbus Avenue and found a female victim suffering from several gunshot wounds. She was declared dead at the scene. KLAS-TV reports the victim was identified as 24-year-old Natalie Manduley.
Las Vegas Police said three suspects entered the home and "attempted to rob the inhabitants." In the process, gunfire reportedly broke out and a female resident "exchanged gunfire with at least one of the residents." Manduley was reportedly "struck multiple times" as the suspects fled.
At the same time, a male resident reportedly returned home and saw the suspects get into a Mercedes sedan. The man caused the suspects to crash the car and then escaped on foot. Police called the incident a "targeted robbery."
On March 28, Las Vegas Police arrested Kamari Oliver on charges of open murder, robbery with a deadly weapon, kidnapping, and home invasion with a deadly weapon.
The arrest report cited by the Las Vegas Review-Journal says Oliver allegedly left his homework inside the car. He is reportedly a student at a high school in Las Vegas, though the arrest report redacted the school’s name. Manduley reportedly lived at the home on Bright Nimbus Avenue with her boyfriend and another woman. Her boyfriend reportedly sells "high end jewelry on Instagram."
According to the arrest report, the suspects were three men, along with one woman who reportedly knew Manduley and her roommates and was at her house the day before the shooting. The other female resident of the house was reportedly forced into a closet at gunpoint and asked about the contents of the home’s safe. Manduley’s boyfriend reportedly told police the suspects stole $5,000 in cash, which officers later retrieved from the Mercedes.
The report says aside from the cash, police located a red backpack, which contained "a school Chrome Book along with a notebook of schoolwork, specifically math work. In the top right corner of the schoolwork, the name 'Kamari Oliver' and '5th Period' were written."
Oliver reportedly had unexcused absences for the last two class periods on March 25, the day of the shooting. School officials called detectives when he showed up at school, and Oliver was taken into custody. He reportedly had a cut above his eye and a burn mark but told police it was from a "fight at a party."
Clark County Jail records show he is being held without bail.
